Plan
The first step of the custom home process is to plan out your ideas and to make a budget. With T&G Builders, this includes a consultation to discuss your ideas, wish list, site conditions, house location, and the logistics including permit requirements and local building codes. During this meeting, we will also discuss your budgets and estimated constructed costs to ensure you are aware of the costs upfront before any building begins. T&G Builders also has the ability to do 3D renderings of the inside and outside elevations during this phase.
Design
After we take into account all of the planning and budget factors, it’s time to start the design process and create your dream home! The first phase of the design is typically the first-floor plan; then we can move on to the second-floor plan and layout. At T&G Builders, we find that it’s best to take things one level at a time to ensure our customers are happy with the layout and design on each floor. Once the floor plan is complete (including exterior additions such as decks and porches) we create the elevations to allow owners to get a visual on the windows, doors, and other angles of their design.
We then give customers a presentation to provide them with answers on the budget and detailed specifications. We always present the specifications along with the house location and final plans to keep owners updated and to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of every aspect of the project.
Build
After we receive all permits and required approvals, it is time to build! This is one of the most critical steps for owners, as they must be ready to choose colors and products before the construction can begin. Because we believe that open communication is so important, it is a T&G requirement that every owner is provided with a weekly update during the building process. We will discuss any questions, requests, and our remaining schedule. It’s important for homeowners to keep in mind that the average home takes about 6-7 months to complete, but the wait is well worth it!
